DJ ISAbella’s Restaurant Recs, Style Advice & Songs To Add To Your Playlist Now

“Lesbian house” – that’s DJ ISAbella’s term for her signature music style, in case you weren’t already aware. We caught up with the Colombian-born, Barcelona-based DJ after her euphoric set at Sónar Lisboa – which featured her addictive blend of ’90s house, techno and trance, played to a heaving crowd at Pavilhão Carlos Lopes in the Portuguese capital this past weekend. During our video interview (which you can watch in full below), ISAbella shared her Culture List – the music, fashion, restaurants (and more) that she’s loving right now, which you should probably take note of.

Why? Within minutes of meeting her, it’s clear ISAbella is that friend – you know, the one who’s seemingly been everywhere and done everything, who you can always count on for a great time. She’s played at festivals and clubs across the globe, from the UK’s Glastonbury and Croatia’s Love International to Berlin’s OHM and Finland’s Kaiku. And beyond being a driving force behind Barcelona’s thriving nightlife scene, ISAbella is also the co-founder of MARICAS: a “FLINT*, queer, techno, pervy and loving party”, platform and collective, through which she has created a community that brings people of all identities together, both on and off the dancefloor. The Barcelona-based collective also has its own record label, which launched with her debut EP Audio Exótica back in 2020 and sees her continue to produce for others.

It’s safe to say ISAbella is in a prime position to share recommendations that are well worth taking. So to discover the restaurant she’d eat at forever (clue: it serves an shrimp fritter-type dish she deems the best in the world), the one item of clothing she couldn’t do without, the song she can’t get out of her mind and what question could possibly have led to a wry smile and the answer “a city full of lesbians”, check out our full interview in the video below.
